#71 The Isness of Being

Nov 01, 2023

“When we say, ‘Yes’ to the ‘isness’ of life, when you accept this moment

as it is, you can feel a sense of spaciousness within you that is deeply

peaceful.” ----Eckhart Tolle

Over the last couple of years, I’ve noticed that I’ve come to a place of what may appear to be complacency to the casual observer. More often than not I find myself saying, ‘it is what it is’, and just leave it there. This comes out more often relative to the outside world, and the turmoil in every facet of our inter-social relationships, our geo-political climate to even our own family dynamics. I could feel anger and dismay arising within.

So, the question is, have I just been burying my head in the sand refusing to get emotionally involved with the global changing times, and going into my mental safe haven for self-preservation? I would probably have to say yes. In essence though, I was subjectively beginning to practice the isness of being. I was removing myself from the negative emotional charge of the changing times and admitting that it would be futile to fight something where there is no winner. Neutrality after all is taking a stand. It is what it is. Allowing it to play itself out and letting the Universe handle the details. I could feel that spaciousness and peace that Eckhart Tolle spoke about.

For me, this seemed to work well on my outside world viewpoint. If it looks like a cop out from anyone else’s perspective, oh well. We all do what we must. In so doing, I found myself taking it to yet another level. My inside world.

I’ve been in the field of metaphysics for over 30 years. Studying, speaking and writing about laws and concepts that can’t always be verified by science as we know it, and tends to be quite controversial to say the least. It is the study of the nature of reality, and it’s connection to the self or the very essence of being. It’s a very deep subject matter that one really needs to feel even before they totally understand it.

As our awareness expands, there is a part of us that literally shouts, “YES” upon encountering a new concept. It is our soul that recognizes a truth that we have always known but didn’t know we knew. As we begin to accept these new ideas and concepts they tend to fly in the face of lifelong belief systems. Here is where you have to come to terms with the higher part of you verses the outside world at large.

Admitting to becoming more spiritual than religious takes you further from the heard and can sometimes make you feel more like an outcast in your own domain. Part of your spiritual path includes allowing others to be who they are despite different beliefs. Here, practicing isness becomes your saving grace. The truth of your inner world understanding won’t necessarily be for everyone. Therefore, it is what it is. Until it changes for one or the other. But even still, it is what it is!

There’s something to be said about removing oneself from conflict, be it your outside world, or your inside world. Reality can be whatever you choose it to be. I have found that walking softly with peace in my heart brings more harmony into my life. The path I’ve chosen to walk has given me a fresh pair of eyes. I understand that there’s a reason and an order for everything, and if I don’t agree with it, I allow it to be what it is. If you want to call it living in a fantasy world, well that’s your option. It just seems right to me. It is what it is.
